It was a wonderful night of awards and honors for the 2019 Cherryville High School Star Teacher/Star Student duo of Mrs. Robbie Lovelace and Chase Abernathy, as they, along with 24 other individuals were recognized for their hard work this year in Gaston County’s 12 high schools.

Chief Communications Officer of Gaston County Schools’ Todd Hagans opened the Wednesday, May 15, 4 p.m., event at Schiele Museum, which has been held at the museum for many years now.

Hagans welcomed everyone and thanked the museum for once again hosting the gala. Dot Cherry, from the Gaston County Board of Education, was on hand as was Dr. W. Jeffrey Booker, Superintendent of Gaston County Schools and other school officials and supports staff, as well as area newspaper reporters and photographers. Cherry and Dr. Booker spoke before helping hand out the awards, plaques, and pins.
